FREQUENTLY ASKED  QUESTIONS

-Are these exactly  like the old  bolts?-

Yes and no. Most will match perfectly. Some of the  bigger bolts will have head marking showing the bolt strength rating.  For example "10.9". Also we do give you choices for engine side cover  bolts. You get some of the Phillips head engine case bolts like your  originals....but we also give you the reduced head flange bolts that are found on the cases etc of late model motorcycles. Many people prefer  the modern bolts due to the fact they dont strip easily like the  original Phillips head screws. Our case bolts are strong (10.9 grade)  heat treated  fasteners and wont strip out or round off like cheaper grade  bolts

These 10.9 grade  bolts are very strong, heat treated fasteners and wont strip  out or round off like cheaper 8.8 grade bolts 

Our bolts are all heat  treated and zinc plated to look great, resist corrosion, and  last the life of your  motorcycle.

-Can I find  these at a local hardware  store?-

As most of  us know from experience, OEM  style fasteners are not available  at our local hardware stores. The metric hex bolts found at Ace or Lowes are not the same. 

These fasteners are only  found at the cycle dealerships and expensive to purchase on an  individual  basis. 

It's nice to have  them on hand, right when you or your riding buddies need  them.

-What about OEM style nuts?-

Specbolt uses OEM type  flange nuts. You get a generous assortment flange nuts in M6,  M8, and M10 sizes. You also get nylock nuts in M5, M6, M8, and M10  sizes.

-What about metric  washers?-

Washers are  important for most everything including plastic bodywork,  engine, and exhaust mounts. We include a nice variety of the  most commonly found washers used on your  bike.

-Will I get any  sealing  washers?-

Most older vintage bike  kits dont require sealing washers but we do include them for the bikes  that  do.

-What if I have  aftermarket parts on my  bike?- 

Specbolt kits include some additional sizes  to fit some of the aftermarket items on your  bike as well...such as triplec-lamps etc... If you want to be sure to  get the right size fasteners for your specific aftermarket part...just  ask. We strive to get you everything you  need. 

-Will I  get every nut and bolt found on my bike? What isn't  included?-

This kit is designed as a maintenance only kit and is a great  assortment of the most commonly used fasteners found all over  your bike. It is not a full on restoration kit. It doesn't  include shock or suspension/linkage bolts, axles/axle nuts, swing-arm  bolt, and no case bolts longer than  40mm.

In some cases we can supply shock bolts for your vintage  bike. Just give us a call and be prepared to give us the bolt sizes you  require. We love to accommodate special requests from our Vintage  Guys!!!

-What if I want to  customize my kit or request more of a certain type of  fastener?- 

Not a problem...If you have any  special needs or want to request certain sizes just send me an  email or call me.   I will do my best to create a  custom kit with your specific needs in  mind.
